Sarah Michel Joins The Velvet Chainsaw Team

I’m excited to announce that Sarah Michel, CSP will be joining the Velvet Chainsaw team as of February 18, 2013 as Vice President, Professional Connexity! That means we’re expanding and setting up shop in sunny Colorado.

For the past 16 years, Sarah has owned her own speaking and consulting business, Perfecting Connecting. She’s been laser focused on helping organizations improve peer-to-peer interactions at professional conferences and apply adult learning principles to their attendees’ experience.

The primary two reasons that participants attend conferences are education and networking. During the past few years, our team has been innovating and helping our industry deliver greater education value at conferences. By adding Sarah to our team, we are growing our focus on innovations in professional networking that ultimately adds to the attendee value proposition.

That’s where “connexity” comes in. Connexity is a technology term that means community and connections. Pretty much the Holy Grail for conference organizers, don’t you think?

Sarah will continue to innovate, help our clients be more intentional with their connexity game plan and also facilitate conference general and concurrent sessions. She’ll also be designing the next level of customized professional networking sessions for our clients. Bye, bye speed networking and hello connexity sessions!

2013 will be an exciting year for our company. Our consulting business is growing and we’re getting much more strategic about the markets we serve and the difference we make in improving large face-to-face conferences. Keep an eye on this space for new service offerings and maybe even another addition or two to the VCC team.

Oh and if you want to connect with Sarah or welcome her to the VCC team, reach out to her on LinkedIn or drop her an email. She’s a pretty awesome person that you’ll definitely want to get to know.

I saw Sarah speak at the Colorado Association of REALTORS convention this past September 2015. She changed the way that I communicate with my sphere of influence. Now I look for ways that I can offer connections between the service providers I know and the needs of the people in my community. For example, I know many landscape contractors so this past October I coordinated the service of sprinkler blow-outs for over 35 people in my community. People loved it! I’m hoping to grow that service next year.
